Q. Why are Crypton Upholstery Cleaners so different?
A. They really work! Our cleaners are pH-neutral, water-based, and ready-to-use. They contain no harsh chemicals, no bleach, and no solvents. Crypton Upholstery Cleaners were made to work quickly on stains like iodine; marker; lipstick; food and beverage stains; and protein stains, like blood and grass.
Q. Which cleaner should I use?
A. Crypton Upholstery Cleaning Products are versatile. We offer two kinds of stain removers for fabric, a disinfectant and deodorizer, leather and vinyl cleaners and conditioners, an upholstery extraction cleaner concentrate, and an upholstery extraction machine named Ruby. See the Quick-Reference Stain Chart in our Upholstery Cleaning Guide (pdf) to help determine which product to use for spot cleaning. Crypton Upholstery Cleaning Products work on all upholstery, carpets, and wall coverings, but are specifically engineered to clean Crypton Fabrics quickly and easily.
Q. Do Crypton cleaners work on all fabrics?
A. Yes! Our powerful cleaners work on all water-cleanable textiles. Try them and you will be amazed!
Q. Can Crypton be cleaned with soap and water?
A. Yes. While most new stains come off easily with a damp cloth and water, a mild enzyme detergent, like Tide® or Dawn® dishwashing liquid, mixed with water is a very effective and safe way to clean Crypton. Mix 5 parts water with 1 part enzyme detergent. For more cleaning tips, visit our Cleaning & Care page.
Q. Why is it important to use pH-neutral cleaners?
A. Many cleaners have high alkalinity (soap) levels, and when used on fabric they leave behind a soapy residue that attracts new dirt very quickly.
Q. Can Crypton be disinfected?
A. Yes. Since Crypton barrier fabrics have demonstrated their ability to prevent moisture penetration, the EPA has allowed the claim for disinfectability when Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer is used according to directions on the label. It is also a fabric freshener and deodorizer on all fabrics and is a fresh, citrus-scented disinfectant on all other non-porous surfaces.
Q. Does Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer work on other surfaces?
A. Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer is a registered, hospital grade disinfectant that works on all hard, inanimate surfaces just like any other quaternary disinfectant. The product may be used on other fabrics, too. It provides fabric freshening and deodorizing for all textiles.
Q. What is a quaternary disinfectant?
A. These are commonly referred to as “quats,” since they are quaternary ammonium compounds. Our latest advancement in disinfectant cleaners has been developed using a new kind of quaternary ammonium chloride structure that offers excellent germicidal properties and excellent cleaning. They offer a tremendous range and versatility for use. Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer is easy to use and is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including MRSA and VRE. Crypton quaternary disinfectant is effective on Crypton integrated barrier fabrics.
Q. What is the difference between “anti-microbial” and “anti-bacterial”?
A. Antimicrobial agents destroy or inhibit the growth or reproduction of bacteria, fungi, protozoa or viruses that cause disease. Antibacterial means any substance intended to destroy, eliminate, reduce, mitigate or control the growth or development of bacteria on surfaces. Antimicrobial and antibacterial products are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Q. What common germs does Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer kill?
A. Crypton kills common household, kitchen, and bathroom germs and viruses on nonporous surfaces. Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer kills, E Coli, H1N1, Hepatitis B and C, Herpes Simplex 1 and 2, HIV, Influenza, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, MRSA, VRE, Canine Distemper, mold, mildew, and many more.
Q. How long does it take to kill bacteria and viruses on the surface of Crypton fabric using Crypton EPA-registered Disinfectant & Deodorizer?
A. The time it takes for bacterial and virucidal kills on Crypton Fabric varies just like on any non-porous surface. Be sure to follow instructions on bottle to disinfect.
Q. How did Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer achieve its EPA registration?
A. After three years of testing, submitting results, and helping to establish new protocol test procedures, the EPA recognized Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer works to “disinfect Crypton barrier fabrics.” Crypton has proven that its integrated barrier system, used in conjunction with Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer, kills bacteria, viruses, mold, and mildew.
Q. Why is the EPA registration so important?
A. The EPA closely regulates germicidal product claims, particularly where the target germs cause human illness. Since all germ killers are considered pesticides, the EPA requires testing to certify manufacturers’ claims for safety and effectiveness. Crypton Disinfectant & Deodorizer is registered with the EPA.
Q. Is Crypton bleach-cleanable?
A. Crypton’s “repel and release” stain fighting technology coupled with our hospital-grade Disinfectant & Deodorizer should eliminate the need to subject fabric to the harsh cleaning methods of bleach; however, we know that every facility has preferred cleaning practices. If the fiber type of your Crypton products are 100% solution-dyed polyester or acrylic, then bleach-cleaning is an option when required. Visit our Cleaning & Care page for further instruction, including acceptable fiber types.
