FAQs: C-Zero

    Q. What is C-Zero?

    A. C-Zero is Crypton’s newest finish technology specially formulated for those looking for a fluorine-free solution for stain resistance on fabrics.

    Q. On what fabrics can C-Zero be used?

    A. C-Zero is suitable for all fiber types, offering a full range of fabric options; however, natural fibers offer good repellency but are prone to stains.

    Q. Does C-Zero change the color or hand of the fabric?

    A. No.

    Q. Are there limitations with C-Zero?

    A. Yes. C-Zero is not resistant to oil-based stains, so it is really only recommended for select environments, such as offices and lobbies, where oil-based stains are not common.

    Q. Is C-Zero a replacement for Crypton, INCASE, or Nanotex technologies?

    A. No. Crypton’s fluorocarbon technologies still outperform C-Zero, but when there is a requirement for a fluorine-free treatment C-Zero is the best in its class.

    Q. What are the benefits of C-Zero?

    A. C-Zero provides resistance to odor causing bacteria plus water-based stains using an innovative fluorine-free formula. It also offers an optional moisture barrier to further improve cleanability and durability.

    Q. How is C-Zero applied?

    A. C-Zero is applied using the same method with which our other finishes are applied. Fabric is brought from our partners’ mills to our Kings Mountain, NC plant in a greige (raw) state where it is immersed in our proprietary C-Zero formula. It is then run through a long oven where C-Zero permanently bonds with the fibers.

Q: What flammability requirements does C-Zero pass?

    A: C-Zero passes Cal 117, UFAC, and NFPA 260.

    Q. What is the best way to clean C-Zero?

    A. Liquid spills are repelled for up to 10 minutes, making clean-up easy compared to untreated fabrics. It’s best to use a mild 1:10 soap-to-water mixture and non-abrasive scrubbing. Just like other fabrics, all soap residues must be washed from the surface to ensure the finish continues to perform.

    Q. Are there cleaners to avoid with C-Zero?

    A. Yes. Solvents can damage the finish, so solvent-based cleaners, including fabric softeners and dry cleaning, should be avoided.

    Q: Can I be allergic to C-Zero?

A: No. Because our chemistry is permanently integrated into the fibers themselves, our chemistry will never wear off, but highly-allergic individuals may want to verify use with their doctor.

Q: Does C-Zero emit VOCs or have added formaldehyde?

A: No. C-Zero technology is third-party-certified as containing ultra-low or no VOCs. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) can be emitted from products over time into the air, adversely affecting indoor air quality. C-Zero technology also does not add formaldehyde to fabrics.

    Q: Does C-Zero contain PFOS/PFOA?

A: No. PFOS and PFOA are considered persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and C-Zero’s fluorine-free chemistry avoids the use of these POPs.

    Q: Where can I source C-Zero?

A: Contract customers can source C-Zero through one of our many distributors worldwide.

    Q. Who can I call if I need support?

    A. For field support call 1.800.CRYPTON (800.279.7866).
